My name is Carla Smit and i am 21 years old. I'm a second-year Computer Science student at Emeris (The IIE) based in Gauteng. On paper that's one thing to do. In practice it's two: coursework and freelance client work, running at the same time, most weeks.
My course focus
What do i do in class?
Programming. C# on expert level through to applied projects. Docker is also used.
Docker, ASP.NET, Microsoft Azure
Knowing how to secure an app and how to identify threats.

Freelance
Small businesses, real deadlines.
Outside of class, I build and maintain web presences for small South African businesses. Mostly manufacturers and service providers who need a site that loads fast, ranks locally, and doesn't need a developer on retainer just to change a phone number. That work covers everything from the initial build to SEO and running Google Ads once the site is live.
I build client sites in plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no framework overhead, easy to host, easy to hand over. Everything ships through GitHub and deploys on hosting platforms.
